How to Connect and Configure a Custom Domain
Short links perform better when people recognize your brand. Connecting your own domain or subdomain lets you share links like go.yourbrand.com/sale instead of a standard shared domain. Here is how to hook up your domain, configure DNS records, and secure your links.
Subdomain vs Root Domain: Which One Should You Pick?
Before touching your DNS panel, decide if you want to use a subdomain or your apex root domain:
Subdomain (Recommended)
Examples: link.yourbrand.com, go.yourbrand.com, or hub.yourbrand.com.
Best if your main root domain already runs your primary website or online store. You connect the subdomain using a CNAME record without touching your main site.
Root / Apex Domain
Examples: yourbrand.link or brand.to.
Best if you registered a short, dedicated branding domain specifically for shortening links. You connect it using an A record pointing to the edge IP.
Step 1: Add Your Domain in EZY
Custom domains are available on the EZY Pro plan. To add your domain:
- Log into your account and open your Profile Settings.
- Click on the Custom Domains tab.
- Enter your domain name (for example,
link.yourbrand.com). - Click Connect Domain.
Once added, the system generates the exact DNS records needed for your registrar.
Step 2: Add DNS Records in Your Registrar
Log in to the DNS manager where you manage your domain (such as Cloudflare, Namecheap, GoDaddy, or AWS Route 53). Add the matching record below:

Step 3: Verification and SSL Activation
After saving your DNS records, head back to your EZY dashboard and click Verify DNS. DNS propagation usually takes anywhere from two minutes to an hour depending on your registrar TTL.
Once the record resolves, an automatic SSL certificate is provisioned for your domain at no extra charge. All your branded links will immediately load over secure HTTPS.
Important Settings for Your Domain
Strict Domain Isolation Mode
By default, strict mode is enabled. This ensures that only short links created by your account will redirect on your custom domain. Random links created by other users on EZY will never resolve on your branded address.
Custom 404 Fallback URL
If someone mistypes a link or visits an expired slug on your custom domain, you can set where they land instead of seeing a blank error. Common choices are your main website home page or a contact page.
Creating Links with Your Custom Domain
Once your domain status shows as Verified, you will see a domain dropdown whenever you create or edit a link. Select your custom domain, type your slug (or use an auto-generated one), and your link is ready to share immediately.
